Stockholms Typografiska Gille vill höja kvaliteten på svenska grafiska produkter. Vi debatterar och engagerar oss i utvecklingen inom vårt yrkesområde, studerar och samtalar om konsekvenserna av ny teknik. Vi kritiserar dålig grafisk kvalitet. Genom dessa aktiviteter hoppas vi kunna skapa en större medvetenhet hos såväl producenter av svenska grafiska produkter, beställare av grafisk form och typografi som hos den läsande konsumenten.

ATypI konferens 2015 – Okt. 14-17

Registration for this year’s conference in São Paulo, Oct 14–17, is now open!

Registration can be bought separately for the first day of the programme, which includes your choice of 6 full day workshops, 3 half-day Workshops, one 1.5 hour workshop, 2 tracks of sessions – educational and technical, refreshment breaks, lunch, as well as a Conference T-shirt. 

Registration for days 2-4 of the conference includes three days of Conference sessions, refreshment breaks and lunches, opening keynote and reception on Wednesday evening, a special event party on Saturday evening, as well as a Conference T-shirt.

Hermann Zapf död | TypeDrawers

The great calligraphy and type design master Hermann Zapf passed away yesterday, on 4 June 2015, at the age of 96.

 

Hermann has been a defining force behind type design and typography in the 20th century.

His breathtaking calligraphic skills have impressed me first when I saw them in books, but impressed me even more when, ten years ago, at the age of 86, he casually took out his pencil and inscribed a few books for me. His typeface designs were simply beautiful, perhaps most importantly Optima, which has created an unmatched class of its own and stood for decades as an penultimate expression of letterform elegance.
