2014 Fabric Design Competition

Valley Forge Fabrics, the world’s largest supplier of decorative fabrics for the hospitality industry, is inviting you to share your creative spirit.

There are two categories:

• Individual – Minimum of 3 colors per design
• Portfolio – 5 or more designs with a minimum of 3 colors per design and 2 varying themes across the portfolio

You’ll need to prepare two files for your submission:

• a JPG of entire pattern design 24” x 24” at 72dpi
• a SVG file of a single pattern repeat

There is no limit in the number of entries per person. By submitting more then five images you will be automatically eligible to win in both the Individual and the Portfolio categories.

There is no entry fee . Eligibility The competition is open to legal residents of the fifty United States and the District of Columbia (or students with valid student visa) who are at least eighteen years old at the time of entry. Prize Individual Category :
• First Prize – $1,300
• Second Place – $500
• Third Place – $250

Portfolio Category :
• First Prize – $2,000
• Second Prize – $1,000
• Third Prize – $500

School Category :
• $1,500 to department at school with the greatest number of portfolio entrants
• $1,000 to department at school with greatest number of individual entrants

Taipei International Design Award 2014

In order to show the world their commitment to encourage good design in Taipei, Taipei City Government organized the Taipei International Design Award and invites designers around the globe to create design works with commercial potential.

Taipei City Government hopes to not only publicly select outstanding international design works but also serve as a major platform for international design creation and industry vitalization.

They would like to encourage using design to improve the city’s economic, social, environmental, and cultural development by providing its users with a safer, harmonious, and more convenient lifestyle.

The organizers are looking for innovative works in the categories:

• Industrial Design – Industrial design refers to works that can be mass-produced, including transportation tools, equipments, daily utilities and household goods, IT and home appliances, fashionables, etc.

• Visual Communication Design – Visual communication includes identity, posters, packaging and publications.

• Public Space Design – Encompass spaces for public usage, governmental buildings and certain private establishments.

Entries must be original creations of the contestants completed after June 30, 2012 .

There is no entry fee . Eligibility Everyone around the world are welcomed to participate individually or as a group (each group is limited to five members) with one member as main correspondent. Prize The Top Winner will receive prizes amounting NTD 500,000 (approx. 16,500 USD).

Apart from the cash prize, the Golden/Silver/Bronze winners will also receive a trophy and a certificate of recognition .
