This year, after an incredibly successful first collaboration, they welcome back their international partner, the Directory of Illustration , to build on the success of the inaugural World Illustration Awards , honouring the most inspiring illustration throughout the world.

Biomimicry Global Design Challenge 2015-2016
Hosted by the Biomimicry Institute , in partnership with the Ray C. Anderson Foundation , the Biomimicry Global Design Challenge is an annual competition that invites people around the world to address critical sustainability issues using nature as a guide.
By applying nature’s design principles, we can create solutions that help support a healthy planet. The Institute’s goal is to build an artery of sustainable innovation inspired by nature and to help bring more biomimetic solutions to market.

These categories are judged by the jury and will appear in the Illustration Annual:
• Advertising : ads, posters, CDs, packaging, etc.
• Books : cover/jacket and/or interior, must be published
• Editorial : consumer or trade magazine, newspaper
• For Sale : poster, print, note paper, greeting card, licensing/stock, gallery sale, etc.
• Institutional : company/association publication, brochures, collateral, etc.
• Motion/Animation : animation for film, television, video or Web
• Self-Promotion : promotion for illustrators, creative firms and vendors
• Unpublished : commissioned but not published, personal or student work, etc.

One City One Pride Arts Festival Design Competition
The City of West Hollywood through its Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission invites any and all artists to create a poster proposal that celebrates the theme of this year’s One City One Pride Arts Festival .
This year’s festival is themed ’ Into The Streets ’, an exploration of the impact of the geographic locations and psychographics of a community on the LGBTQ rights movement. Projects literally take the art into the streets and outdoors, and re-examine the history of West Hollywood as the Creative City. Submissions should incorporate this theme as a major part of their design.

BP Portrait Award 2016 Painting Competition
The Portrait Award , now in its thirty-seventh year at the National Portrait Gallery and twenty-seventh year of sponsorship by BP , is the most prestigious portrait painting competition in the world. With a first prize of 30,000 GBP ( approx. 45,260 USD ), and a total prize fund of 61,000 GBP ( approx. 92,000 USD ), the Award is aimed at encouraging artists to focus upon and develop portraiture in their work.
