Spin: Identity for Simon Pengelly
The folks at Spin recently launched a new identity for Simon Pengelly, a British furniture designer and founder of Pengelly Design. Pulling inspiration from the graphic stripes found on Simon’s chairs, Spin crafted a minimal yet distinctive mark that reflects the spirit of the brand.

Webbtypografi har utvecklats snabbt under de senaste åren, mycket tack vare den goda tillgängligheten av utvecklade typsnittstjänster och förbättrat webbläsarstöd. Till skillnad från en handfull förvalda typsnitt, eller gratisvarianter som inte varit anpassade för onlinebruk har de nya teknikerna förändrat förutsättningarna för dagens webb- och appdesigner.
Fler typsnitt är tillgängliga gratis eller till en låg kostnad tack vare Google Fonts. Adobes tjänst Typekit ingår i Creative Cloud vilket möjliggör ett stort utbud för designer att välja från. De flesta populära typsnitt finns idag i versioner anpassade för webb samt även mindre storlekar som till exempel ScreenSmart från Hoefler&Co.

A Haiku Homage to 2014

Haikus and I go back a long time. Many of us learned about them in elementary school. I enjoyed them, particularly because of their traditional emphasis on nature.
For that reason, it may seem odd to dedicate such a poem to a piece of software. But my philosophy has long been that the best typefaces are those that don’t rely on the computer for their design. Beautiful lines and shapes are pure and simple, and exist without a screen. Likewise, haikus are pure and simple, and may focus on beauty, as do many of these designs below.
