Graphic Short-Stories Call For Entries

The British Council and the Bengal Foundation are looking for innovative, cutting-edge graphic short-stories for an anthology to be published by Bengal Publications in November 2014 , in time for the Hay Festival.

It will look and feel like a comic, but they are encouraging story/short fiction told visually, addressing an issue or topic. The submissions must be related to the theme of the anthology, which will explore the topic of ” Identity ”.

The short story can be of 5-15 pages (Color / B&W). Paper size: 9” x 6” inches. Image format can be JPG or TIFF, not be greater than 10MB. One can submit a maximum of two graphic stories, but each story should be sent separately.

All entrants will retain copyright over their entry(s).

There is no entry fee . Eligibility Open worldwide to cartoonists, artists and writers working in all genres. Prize All participants whose stories have been selected for publication will receive an honorarium . Moreover, the stories selected will be published in an anthology of graphic short-stories.

Selection of finalists will be announced on 1 June 2014 .

Jerwood Drawing Prize 2014

The Jerwood Drawing Prize aims to promote and reward excellence and talent in contemporary drawing practice.

By showcasing the work of emerging artists alongside established artists, the Prize has helped contribute to the careers of numerous well-known artists over its 20-year history.

Only work made since January 2013 is eligible for entry. Artists may submit up to three drawings. The maximum size of works accepted for submission is 2.5m in any dimension, including frame.

The nature of the exhibition is to generate debate about contemporary drawing practice and therefore work in any media is eligible for entry.

Entry fees start from £12. Eligibility The Jerwood Drawing Prize is open to all artists resident in the UK. Prize • First Prize – £8000
• Second Prize – £5000
• Two Student Awards – £2000 each

An independent panel of three selectors will choose up to 70 drawings for an exhibition in the Jerwood Visual Arts programme at Jerwood Space, London and subsequent national tour.

Accepted artists will be invited to a private view on Tuesday 16 September 2014 at Jerwood Space, during which the prizes will be awarded. A full colour illustrated catalogue will be produced to accompany the exhibition.

2014 Fabric Design Competition

Valley Forge Fabrics, the world’s largest supplier of decorative fabrics for the hospitality industry, is inviting you to share your creative spirit.

There are two categories:

• Individual – Minimum of 3 colors per design
• Portfolio – 5 or more designs with a minimum of 3 colors per design and 2 varying themes across the portfolio

You’ll need to prepare two files for your submission:

• a JPG of entire pattern design 24” x 24” at 72dpi
• a SVG file of a single pattern repeat

There is no limit in the number of entries per person. By submitting more then five images you will be automatically eligible to win in both the Individual and the Portfolio categories.

There is no entry fee . Eligibility The competition is open to legal residents of the fifty United States and the District of Columbia (or students with valid student visa) who are at least eighteen years old at the time of entry. Prize Individual Category :
• First Prize – $1,300
• Second Place – $500
• Third Place – $250

Portfolio Category :
• First Prize – $2,000
• Second Prize – $1,000
• Third Prize – $500

School Category :
• $1,500 to department at school with the greatest number of portfolio entrants
• $1,000 to department at school with greatest number of individual entrants
